GTA 6 release date, latest news and story info

Grand Theft Auto 5 has been around since September 2013, but is still insanely popular thanks to the continued GTA Online updates. Still, that doesn’t mean fans aren’t eager to find out news of a potential GTA 6.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 launching in Spring 2018 the chances of seeing a new Grand Theft Auto any time soon on are slim.

GTA 5 remains the fastest selling title in videogame history, earning a staggering $1 billion in its first 24 hours of release. Rockstar’s latest entry has gone on to sell 60 million copies worldwide across all platforms, this includes the recent ports for PS4 and Xbox One.

We know almost nothing about GTA 6, but reports suggest it’s already entered pre-production. A recent leak seemed to suggest an actor had listed GTA 6 motion capture work on their resume, but this later turned out to be a hoax, much to the dismay of fans. Now, we remain back at square one, with much speculation and little concrete information.

GTA 6 Release Date – When is it coming out?

We currently have no details on when GTA 6 will release, and with Red Dead Redemption 2 launching in 2018 it won’t be for at least another year, most likely much longer.

GTA 6 News – What’s being said about it?

The first official whiff of information about GTA 6 came from Rockstar President Leslie Benzies, who teased that the game is in very early stages of development.

“We don’t know what GTA 6 will be, but we’ve got some ideas”, said Benzies in an interview with Develop.

Although it’s far from concrete confirmation of what development stage the game is at, Benzies did give us a few insights into how the idea process starts.

“It comes from the idea first. Where it is going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you’re doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the mission in.”

It’s also worth remembering that by the end of GTA 4’s lifecycle, Rockstar had already conceived some broad ideas about what GTA 5 would be. The game started life around 5 years ago, but was only in full production for three of those.

“We’ve got about 45 years’ worth of ideas we want to do. GTA Online is the focus right now. There ain’t no rest between finishing 5 and then Online. Plus we have some things  – stuff, DLC, I don’t know how to describe it exactly – that we’d like to do, and we’ll pick the right ones.”

GTA 5

The latest GTA 6 gossip though is about the sheer size of the GTA 6 map. According to a new rumour, Rockstar Games could be trying to recreate the entire of the US with GTA 6, rather than just a single city.

With the rumoured release date tipped to lie somewhere in 2020 (we know, that feels like a million years away), apparently Rockstar is using that time to recreate the entire country.

We’d advise that you take this with a large pinch of salt though, as we doubt you need to take that 100 per cent literally. We reckon GTA 6 might just feature multiple US locations with the distances between each one cut down considerably.

It could be like how The Crew managed to cover the entire US and turned it into a navigable map that takes an hour and a half in real time to drive from one end to the other.

Could this be what’s in store for us in GTA 6? We can only hope.

GTA 6 Story – What’s it about?

As GTA 6 is most likely at least three years away, we understandably know absolutely nothing about the game’s storyline or gameplay features.

Nvidia GTX 1090 Ti & AMD R9 495X Benchmarked & Reviewed – Pascal & Polaris Put To The Test

Today’s a special day as we gracefully welcome two new flagships from Nvidia and AMD. The GTX 1090 Ti 8GB and the R9 495X 8GB, both benchmarked and reviewed. So strap in folks, this is going to be a hell of a ride.

AMD Nvidia Feature

We’ve been waiting for this day for so long and it has finally arrived, bringing with it the fastest graphics cards to ever grace our footsteps. Both featuring the world’s most advanced FinFET Graphics Processing Units boasting the highest levels of performance we’ve seen yet.

Nvidia GTX 1090 Ti And AMD R9 495X Benchmarked and Reviewed

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1090 Ti 8GB

First off we have the GTX 1090 Ti, Nvidia’s latest Pascal flagship. Featuring a full fledged GP102 GPU with 30 SPMs, Streaming Pascal Multiprocessors, for a total of 3840 CUDA cores. In addition to a 256bit GDDR5X memory interface, with 8GB of 12Ghz GDDR5 memory for a total of 384GB/s of memory bandwidth.

The GTX 1090 Ti operates at base clock of 1212Mhz and a boost clock of 1372Mhz. Making this is by far the highest clocked graphics card Nvidia has ever introduced. The GP102 GPU is the most complex chip the company has ever made packing more than 10 billion transistors.  Nvidia is positioning this card as a direct replacement to the GTX 980 Ti. However, thanks to the next generation FinFET process the GP102 GPU is significantly smaller than GM200 and significantly more power efficient. Additionally, thanks to its smaller size Nvidia can price it more aggressively. Which brings us to the most exciting part about this new product and that is its price,. At $499 the 1090 Ti is not only faster, more power efficient and smaller but also cheaper.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1090 Ti

Moving on to the physical aspects of the GTX 1090 Ti, Nvidia has decided to go with its standard blower style cooler but with the brushed aluminum finish similar to the 980 Ti. Although looks can be deceiving as Nvidia has told us that the GTX 1090 Ti features an updated vapor-chamber that will be deployed across the company’s new NVTM heatsinks. This next generation vapor-chamber heatsink was developer by Cooler Master in collaboration with Nvidia and it was developed specifically for Pascal.

he new patented design is dubbed VaporWorks™ and it delivers 21% better thermal performance than its predecessor. In addition to VaporWorks™ Nvidia has also updated the blower fan with new hydraulic motors that use less power and generate fewer decibels of noise.

AMD Radeon R9 495X

Moving on to the Red Team. This is the first time that we’ve ever got to see the R9 495X. This is the company’s flagship single GPU 400 series Polaris based. It Features a Polaris GPU that we haven’t heard of before today, called Polaris 12. Polaris 12 features 5120 GCN 4.0 cores and 256bit wide GDDR5X memory interface feeding 8GB of 12.0Ghz GDDR5X memory chips. The result is 384GB/s of memory bandwidth, exactly the same as Nvidia’s GTX 1090 Ti. So it seems both company’s decided to opt for smaller memory interfaces for their high-end designed, off-set by the significantly faster GDDR5X memory from Micron.

The R9 495X features a Polaris 12 XT GPU which is the fully unlocked variant of the chip. The graphics card runs at a boost frequency of 1170mhz, making it the highest clocked graphics card every introduced by AMD. Once again thanks to the FinFET manufacturing process technology we’re seeing much higher clock speeds than before. At 312mm² Polaris 12 is only slightly smaller than GP102, primarily because while Polaris 12 is based on the 14LPP manufacturing process from Samsung, Nvidia’s GP102 is made using TSMC’s 16FF process.

Just like the GTX 1090 Ti, the R9 495X is priced at $499.

So let’s take a quick look at the brand new cooling solution AMD is bringing to market with its latest single GPU flagship graphics card.

AMD Radeon R9 495X Feature

AMD Radeon R9 495X

Aesthetically speaking this is undoubtedly the best looking exterior design we have seen yet from AMD. The black metal exoskeleton really shines thanks to a beautiful contrast of red , led-lit, accents and AMD logo as well as a beautiful zinc mirror finish. It’s not just all about looks either. The carved gills on the side are actually open and work to exhaust heat outside of the exoskeleton with the help of the peripherally placed 85mm blower fan. This design which AMD dubs WraithShark™ is 37% quieter and 23% cooler than AMD’s standard design.

As you have probably noticed by now the R9 495X features a black metal mesh that covers the blower fans. This removable tight black mesh works as a dust filter that protects the fan and the internals of the card. To prevent the tight mesh from adding to the acoustic footprint of the fan, the fan has been moved 4mm in and the mesh has been curved outwardly by 5mm. The end result is a very elegant and simple solution that prompts us to beg the question why hasn’t this been thought of before?

Game Benchmarks

With the specs finally out of the way let’s see how these beasts actually perform in the latest and greatest titles. Our benchmarking suite only consists of the most demanding games out there right now running at the highest possible settings. at maximum settings and torturous resolutions.

Let’s start off with the brand new Solitaire VR. With all the graphics settings cranked up to the max, the game looks absolutely gorgeous. It transports the player to a a virtual reality presence that’s borderline indistinguishable from, you guessed it, actual reality. The R9 495X and the GTX 1090 Ti both were able to provide a wonderfully immersive experience here with over four thousand FPS.

Solitaire VR

Let’s move on to one of the more demanding games out there, the infamous Minesweeper. This game continues to be a PC buster, you need a really capable gaming rig to enjoy this game at a resolution as high as 360×240. Thankfully, the latest Polaris & Pascal graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia did not disappoint. Running the game with all the settings maxed out at 360×240 the GTX 1090Ti and the R9 495X average just over three thousand FPS. While three thousand FPS isn’t as high as we were hoping, it’s just enough to deliver a playable and relatively smooth overall gaming experience.

graph

Now let’s look at how the cards perform when we present them with a real challenge. We’re not only going to be cranking up the resolution to 640×360, otherwise known as 31.7K for no apparent reason, but we’re also going to test one of the most demanding applications out there, Microsoft Word. This will really put these cards to the test and show us whether these gaming grade products can also be put to use in a demanding real-world professional workload.

graph_4

Unfortunately both cards ran out of memory at 31.7K , as 8GB is simply nowhere near enough for this type of workload at 640×360. The result is a rather poor framerate of two thousand frames per second. The application felt rather choppy throughout and we found it quite hard to actually do any work on our document under such a low framerate.

graph_6

ropping down the resolution to a more reasonable 360×240 improves things quite a bit. The cards no longer run out of memory and the framerate jumps to over three thousand FPS.

For our thermal and acoustic testing we used a Corsair C90 case with two intake fans and one exhaust fan. We tortured both graphics cards using the most intensive workload o the bunch, Microsoft Word at 640×360.

graph_7

As we’ve already established this is really a very demanding workload. Both cards reached temperatures in excess of 30c. Which at first might seem worryingly high, however this is very much an extreme case scenario as we don’t expect that too many people out there would even consider running word at such a high resolution. Not a whole lot of gamers are interested in heavy professional workloads nor  will the cards reach temperatures as high as this while the GPU is idling. So I really wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Moving on to the noise test, again inside the same C90 case. The same case without either GPU installed produces 27dB of noise.

graph_8

The GTX 1090 Ti registers 4 decibels lower than the R9 495X, however both cards are practically silent. The noise levels aren’t as low as last year’s GTX 990 Ti and the R9 395×2 both of which featured active noise cancelling technologies,ThermX™ from Nvidia and FreeFlow™. The notable absence of both technologies we’re told were the very tight engineering tolerances associated with such implementations. Which rendered them very expensive, and as both the R9 495X and the GTX 1090 Ti are $499 graphics cards rather than $1999, a more traditional approach makes a lot more sense.

Conclusion

Finally, after four years of waiting the first FinFET GPUs are here and they are every bit as good as everyone expected them to be. Both cards from Nvidia and AMD put on a good show today and played an instrumental part in giving us a glimpse into the future. Things that were once thought impossible like playing Solitaire in virtual reality or even running Minesweeper at a playable framerate were proven to be within reach.

Microsoft skips Windows 11, announces Windows 12 in early 2019

Windows 12 is all about VR

Yes, you’ve read that right! Our sources from the company confirmed that Microsoft is planning to release a new operating system called Windows 12 in early 2019. Indeed, there will be no Windows 11, as the company decided to jump straight to Windows 12.

The reason behind this name is rather a symbolic one. Windows 12 is the bridge between the classic Windows OS and the new innovative OS. It marks the beginning of a new era in personal computing: the VR era.

To be honest, the news that Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 12 will be focusing entirely on VR is not that surprising for us. As a quick reminder, at the beginning of January we sort of predicted that Microsoft could be looking to integrate VR directly into Windows 10. However, we never thought that this would happen so fast.

It is worth mentioning that Microsoft will provide a free VR headset to each and every user who upgrades to Windows 12. HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Dell will build VR headsets for Microsoft. The Redmond giant wants to make VR available and affordable for the general public.

Intel Core i9: 18-core X-series processor specs revealed

Intel keeps trickling out details about the next generation of ultra-performance processors, its X-series range, which includes the new i9 core chips, and we’ve got all the latest price, spec, and release date information.

Update (August 8, 2017): Intel has announced full specs and pricing for the 18-core i9 Extreme Edition CPU that sits as the flagship chip in its new X-series range of processors.

According to Intel, the new 18-core processor will feature a base speed of 2.6GHz, and a Turbo Boost 2.0 clock-speed of 4.2GHz. It’s also possible to use Turbo Boost 3.0 to further speed up the clock-rate on the fastest two cores, giving a maximum clock speed of 4.4Ghz. That’s only marginally lower than the 4.5GHz achieved by Intel’s Core i7-7700K, the current top-end consumer desktop processor.

We also know that the 16-core model will be capable of speeds between 2.8GHz and 4.4GHz, and that the 14-core variant will have a base clock-rate of 3.1GHz.

We don’t have proper benchmark results yet, but Intel has offered up some of its own testing readouts. In Cinebench R15, the 16-core i9 chip managed a score of 3,200 – that’s paired with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080Ti GPU.

The 14-core, 16-core, and 18-core Intel Core i9 chips will go on sale on September 25, but the 12-core version is available as soon as August 28. The top-end 18-core model will set you back $2,000 USD.

Original article (May 15, 2017):

Intel’s next-generation workstation CPUs will include a new model name, called Core i9. This forms the very top end of Intel’s X-series of procesors, which was previously topped by a load of different Core i7s.

Specifically, there are five new Intel Core i9 chips, all of which feature 10 or more cores, with the top-end i9-7980XE packing a ridiculous 18 cores – the most ever for an Intel desktop part.

Related: Best CPU for gaming

There’s also three new i7 chips and an i5 processor joining the new i9 chips, including the quad-core i5-7640X and i7 models in 4, 6 and 8-core variants.

The cheaper chips will rival AMD’s top-end Ryzen processors, featuring higher clock speeds and support for more PCIe lanes – both of which are important for high-end PCs that pack powerful components, like multiple graphics cards and high-speed storage arrays.
intel core x

The most expensive new additions are (on paper, at least) in a class of their own, with the Core i9-7980XE priced at $1,999 (about £1,558). It’s the first Intel consumer processor that comes with a teraflop of computing power. Alongside the 7980XE, there are 10, 12, 14 and 16-core i9 alternatives, with the 10 core i9-7900X set to go on sale for $999 (about £778).

All Intel’s new i9 chips come with 3.3GHz base clock speeds, and are capable of reaching up to 4.3GHz dual-core speeds with Turbo Boost 2.0, pushing that to 4.5GHz with Turbo Boost 3.0.

Battlefield 1’s Operation Campaigns go free for everyone

Starting with the Fire & Ice Operation Campaign, out this week.

Battlefield 1’s Operations mode, Evan argued a year ago, is one of the best game modes in any FPS, combining the scale of Conquest’s 64-player battles with the focus of Rush, where you only attack a small number of objectives at any one time. Operation Campaigns string these Operations together back-to-back, and until this week there were just two, one free and one that was available to Premium Pass holders. From now on they’ll all be available for free, developer DICE said this week.

The change comes alongside the release of the Fire & Ice Operation Campaign, which combines Operations from the They Shall Not Pass and In The Name of the Tsar expansions. Again, even if you don’t own those expansions, you’ll be able to play the Operation Campaign, which is neat. DICE said the aim is to get the “most populated servers we can”.

If you’re playing the campaigns without the Premium Pass, then you won’t get to use the weapons and vehicles that come as part of the expansions that the Operations are taken from, and you’ll only get the operations that are part of the current, active campaign, which rotates every two weeks (Premium Pass holders can play whichever campaign they want at any time).

DICE has also reduced the points threshold for completing an Operation Campaign from 30,000 to 25,000, and is considering changes to the rewards players get afterwards, it said.

Fallout 4’s Sim Settlements mod add-on simplifies resource sharing

Sim Settlements is so good it should be an official part of the game, said Chris following the launch of kinggath’s Fallout 4 settlers mod last year. It went on to win our Best Mod of 2017 and has since received an equally-impressive ‘Rise of the Commonwealth’ expansion.

Now, IDEK’s Logistics Station aims to “simplify [the] logistical concerns” of settlement maintenance, by creating an Industrial plot that automates supply lines and improves inter-settlement resource sharing.

“Settlement networking sucks,” says the mod’s creator IDontEvenKnow. “Supply lines are annoying to set up, and even more annoying to redefine as you unlock more settlements. The standard system that shares food and water between settlements is just as happy to feed your settlers corn as it is your cache of Mirelurk Queen steaks. Collecting the surplus food, water and tax money that your settlements produce is tedious.

“To alleviate this, I created this mod. With Sim Settlements, your settlers are happy to build their own towns—why shouldn’t they manage their own logistical needs as well?”

In practice, players assign settlers to each settlement’s Logistics Station, who are in turn automatically assigned a caravan route to their nearest settlement. As your network grows, the mod lets your supply lines maintain efficient routes without additional input—and your supply lines will automatically arrange themselves to “produce a minimum spanning tree.”

That looks something like this:

Logistics Stations also redistributes resources in a more efficient manner against standard supply lines, which in turn is designed to maintain settler happiness. More information on that, as well how the mod handles storage and resource auto-collection, can be found via the mod’s Nexus Mods page.

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord welcomes the Aserai

Following last month’s Vlandians reveal, Mount & Blade 2: Banner has announced its latest faction: the Aserai. Based on the tribes that thrived prior to the Arab Conquests of the seventh and eighth century, a typically comprehensive blog post from developer TaleWorlds details their history, lore and combat capabilities.

Within, we learn that the Aserai are comprised of minor factions, much like all Bannerlord cultures. Their scale and institutions don’t necessarily fit Bannerlord’s political system, we’re told, which ultimately means their southern desert homelands are “hard to rule and dangerous to traverse.”

As I discovered at Gamescom last year, planning goes a long way in Bannerlord—which I imagine will be especially true here. As for how they approach confrontation, TaleWorlds explains the importance of mounts in the Aserai’s offence.

Mideastern armies are popularly associated with horse archers, but in fact those only became prevalent about two centuries after the founding of Islam with the influx of Turks. The Arabs fought with short sword, long spear, and foot bow. Warriors prided themselves on their flexibility, fighting as light mounted lancers or heavy foot, in formed ranks or as individual champions. Javelins, a favourite weapon of the Berbers, made their appearance in Islamic armies fairly early, and we have the Aserai use them as well. All in all it’s a mix of good troops, pretty well balanced across cavalry and infantry.

The Arabs were famously proud of their horses, and the Aserai breeds – produced by pastures in Aserai lands—will have unique characteristics. Middle Eastern warriors wore a mix of armours, often under richly embroidered textiles. Bannerlord’s physics model gives us new options in bringing the pageantry of these armies to life, with banners, horsetails and robes fluttering in the desert breeze.

Check out the full rundown of the Aserai via this Steam Community post. Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is as yet without a hard release date.

PS5 release date: New 2018 news and price details for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One X rival

THE PS5 release date will likely not be Sony’s centrepiece for the PlayStation E3 showcase in 2018, but there’s still plenty of other news surrounding the upcoming Xbox One X, PS4 Pro and Nintendo Switch rival.

The PS5 release date announcement is unlikely to arrive in 2018

The PS5 release date is going to be big news when it’s finally announced by Sony, although there’s still no word on when that might be.

With the PS4 and PS4 Pro performing so well right now against the rival Xbox One X and Nintendo Switch, it would be a safe bet to say that the tech giant aren’t in a massive hurry to move on.

While a few analysts have predicted something being revealed as early as 2018, it seems more likely that we will be waiting longer than that.

Industry analyst Michael Pachter has said in the past that he believes that Sony is making too much money with the PS4 to consider releasing a new console just yet.

Pachter commented in the 1099 Podcast: “I think that’s exactly when you’ll see one (PS5) 2019 or 2020, and if I had to bet, it’s 2020.

“Sony’s making so much money with the PS4 that I think they’ll continue to milk it as long as they can milk it.

“And I think the natural extension of that is the PS4 Pro becomes the default PS4, and they just knock that price down to $250 when they can and they keep selling it – a ton of those.

“The PS5 is probably going to be their real 4K device, and so it just feels to me that they’re not going to launch the PS5 until sales momentum for the PS4 slows, and it just hasn’t.

Rezultat iskanja slik za nintendo switch

“So you certainly get through 2017, 2018, and I just don’t see it slowing in 2018 which should prop them to launch something in 2019.

“If it slows in 2019, they’re probably launching in 2020.”

There’s also rumours that the successor console to the Xbox One X could arrive in 2019, setting up quite an interesting situation for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

YouTuber DreamcastGuy recently released a video which states that a Microsoft source has told him that a new console launch is being primed for 2019.

DreamcastGuy reports that a friend he has that works for Microsoft has indicated to him that the big release is on the cards for next year.

This appears to be in a bid to get in ahead of the PS5 release date, although Sony haven’t mentioned when they might launch their new console.

According to DreamcastGuy, Microsoft are worried that Sony could be ready to announce the PS5 in early 2019, meaning they need to be ready too.

Price points are also reportedly being talked about at the tech giant, which wouldn’t be seen as that surprising if they hope to get it ready as soon as possible.

It should be noted that other media sites have mentioned that this source in question could be real, however, all this reported information should still be taken with a big pinch of salt.

Rezultat iskanja slik za Xbox One X

This would be seen as a massive gamble on Microsoft’s part, due to the quite recent launch of the Xbox One X.

Having only just released quite a highly priced bit of kit, would it make sense to launch another so quickly afterward?

There’s also the fact that while 2019 is next year; it could be another release set for November, meaning an announcement wouldn’t need to be made until very late in 2018.

While not something that is set to happen right away, some analysts have also backed Nintendo to create a new smaller device to launch as soon as 2019.

This latest report is from Citigroup, who apparently cite the younger audience the Nintendo Switch could attract as a driving factor behind a “Mini” Nintendo Switch being unveiled.

The fiscal year through March 2019 would be the earliest we could see something new launch under the umbrella of the Switch brand, according to analysts including Minami Munakata, Kota Ezawa and Alicia Yap.

However, unlike Sony and Microsoft, the Nintendo Switch Mini would just be a slight upgrade on the existing Switch design.

This would mean a slight generational refresh for Nintendo, who are probably not looking to their next console for some years.

EVGA’s 2200W power supply provides enough juice for seven GTX 1080 Ti cards

If you thought your 1,000W power supply was boss, check this out—EVGA is showing off its new Supernova 2200 P2, which as it name implies is a monster PSU that delivers 2,200 watts of 80 Plus Platinum power.

Wondering what the hell could require so much juice? EVGA has been telling CES attendees that its new PSU can power up to seven GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards. Forget Crysis, with proper SLI scaling, you could run whatever you damn well please at 8K off of seven GeForce GTX 1080 Tis.

[Note: Someone said seven GTX 1070 cards initially, but that seems way off, as those are only 150W TDP for the stock 1070 FE. You could run at least 12, possibly as many as 14, 1070 cards with 2200W, particularly if you drop the max power level a bit. Seven 1080 Ti cards would be 1750W TDP at stock, which seems the more likely target here. We’ve asked EVGA for clarification on the number of PCIe connectors as well. There are nine sockets on the PSU, and potentially two 8-pin connectors per socket. While that would exceed the output if fully loaded, using a combination of 6-pin and 8-pin connectors would work.]

Gaming is the not the target audience here, though. EVGA is clearly taking aim at cryptocurrency miners with this one. Those users will find that the all-important +12V rail provides a staggering 183.3 amps, which is exactly 100a more than EVGA’s 1000W model.

Pulling that much power out of a typical 110V US household outlet is a problem. To run this beast, the side label indicates 200-240V is required.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL_e7XQC0tg

The Supernova 1200 P2 is also fully modular, though if you’re connecting half a dozen graphics cards (or more) to this thing, good luck keeping things neat and tidy.

As As Legit Reviews notes, the 220V outlet requirement prevented EVGA from demonstrating its new PSU at CES, so we’ll have to wait for information on noise and heat output. Same goes with pricing and availability—EVGA hasn’t mentioned either. As a point of reference, EVGA’s Supernova 1600 T2 carries a 375€ MSRP.

PS4, Xbox One PRICE DROP: Xbox One X and PS4 Pro leading to cut price consoles?

SONY and Microsoft could be about to make the PS4 and Xbox One even cheaper.

PS4 Xbox One consoles

SP4 and Xbox One could receive price cuts later this year.

That’s according to hardware manufacturer Turtle Beach, whose CEO Juergen Stark is banking on a sales boost if the price predictions come to fruition.

Stark believes that the release of the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X will lead to Microsoft and Sony lowering the price of core models.

He said: “While not accounted for in our outlook explicitly, we think new hardware launches could also boost sales, particularly because they enable lower pricing of the economy models of Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

“All-in-all, assuming good sales of marquee game titles, we see a very strong holiday season for our headset business.”

Stark isn’t the only person to predict a PS4 price cut this holiday season.

Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter believes the PS4 and PS4 Pro will receive price cuts to entice new fans.

“I don’t think Microsoft is all that competitive,” Pachter previously told.

“Xbox One S is priced the same as the PS4, and I don’t think they are competitive at all with the Xbox One X, currently priced at $100 more than the PS4 Pro, and highly likely to be priced $150 more than the PS4 Pro by Holiday.

“My guess is, Sony will cut the everyday PS4 price to $249, and the PS4 Pro price to $349 this Holiday, and Microsoft will be too expensive, so Sony will keep its price advantage this Holiday.”
